The Ninth (Tish’a) of the Hebrew month of Av is a day of mourning for the destruction of the first and second Temples and capturing of Jerusalem, in 586 B.C.E. and 70 C.E., by the Babylonians and Romans, as well as other tragedies in Jewish history. Evening services will include the beautiful and mournful melodies of the Megillah of Eicha, the Book of Lamentations, attributed to the prophet Jeremiah.
