President's Letter
Dear
Future Friend,
Welcome to Temple Beth Torah, our home away from home. Our humble beginnings began thirty-six years ago around a mah jongg table. Since that time, we have grown into an established, respected, vibrant and successful congregation of about 200 families. We also have a strong religious school of about 130 children, a very active Sisterhood and Brotherhood, a wonderful USY program, social programming, adult education, and other activities that, well, make a house a home.
Religiously, we are an affiliated Conservative congregation but are welcoming to all. In fact, many of our most active members come from backgrounds of other Jewish affiliations and interfaith marriages. Our services are offered each Friday evening and Saturday morning, Minyan on Wednesday mornings, and of course special services on all appropriate Jewish holidays.
We also encourage people to get involved. We have many activities and committees ranging from Tikkun Olam, which provides helping hands to the local community, to assisting in our religious school, to planning and running social and/or fundraising events, to guiding us religiously through Ritual committee, and a myriad of other opportunities in which to participate.
Geographically, we are more than just Holliston; we also encompass the surrounding communities. As a matter of fact, our current Board of Directors is made up of people living not only in Holliston, but also in Medway, Millis, Ashland, and Milford. We also have many members living in Hopkinton, Franklin and other nearby towns. Speaking for myself as temple president, I live in Ashland.
On a personal note, I first joined Temple Beth Torah in 1981. It has been the Temple of my adulthood, the Temple of my children's youth, and a community that I have grown to love. Please join us and you too will find it to be a very special place.
Thank you and at your service,
Eric Bloom
President
