Cantor Linda Myer is a native of Chicago. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and in 2015 she received her Certificate in Jewish Sacred Music from the School of Jewish Music, Hebrew College.
Cantor Linda brings a wealth of experience and talent to her role at Temple Beth Torah. She is a Jewish educator, cantorial soloist, writer and actress. Beginning her professional career as a special needs teacher in Wisconsin, after moving to Boston she pursued a writing career, publishing articles and poetry and worked as a freelance textbook writer/editor. For over 20 years, Cantor Linda also wrote and performed one-woman plays, appearing as various women in history; she also founded History-Making Productions, a touring theater company which produced audience participation plays for children.
For the past seven years, Cantor Linda served as Special Needs Coordinator and B’nei Mitzvah tutor and 7th and 8th grade teacher at Congregation Sha’aray Shalom in Hingham. She has also served as High Holiday cantor at Temple Hillel B’nai Torah (W. Roxbury), Congregation Agudas Achim (Attleboro), Congregation Beth Israel (Roanoke, VA), Temple Beth Am (Framingham), where she also taught 4th grade, and Wellesley College. In addition, she has been a part-time Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Beth Jacob in Plymouth.
