Linda Myer is a native of Chicago. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree and Teaching Certification in Behavioral Disabilities from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 2015, she received her Certificate in Jewish Sacred Music from the School of Jewish music, Hebrew College in Newton.
Cantor Linda brings a wealth of experience and talent to her dual role at Temple Beth Torah. She is a Jewish educator, cantorial soloist, writer, and actress. She began her professional career as a special needs teacher in Wisconsin. After moving to Boston, she pursued a writing career, publishing articles and poetry and worked as a freelance textbook writer/editor. For over 20 years, Cantor Linda wrote and performed one-woman plays, appearing as Amelia Earhart, Abigail Adams, and singer Sophie Tucker. She also founded and directed History-Making Productions, a touring theater company which produced audience participation plays for children.
For the past seven years, Cantor Linda served as Special Needs Coordinator, B’nei Mitzvah tutor and 7th and 8th grade teacher at Congregation Sha’aray Shalom in Hingham. She has also served as High Holiday cantor at Temple Hillel B’nai Torah (W. Roxbury), Congregation Agudas Achim (Attleboro), Congregation Beth Israel (Roanoke, VA), Temple Beth Am (Framingham), and at Wellesley College. In addition, she has been a part-time Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Beth Jacob in Plymouth.
